PUTRAJAYA, Dec 19 — The government will dole out RM400 million in aid to keep financially-distressed stage bus operators in operation, Bernama Online reported today.
The fund was announced today by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who also revealed it would be overseen by the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).
“The fund is an interim measure which is hoped to be able to continue the services of stage buses for the benefit of the people affected,” Najib was quoted as saying in the report.
RM100 million from the fund will be paid out early in 2012, with firms in Selangor expected to be the first beneficiaries, followed by those in Negri Sembilan and Pahang.
Aside from the RM400 million fund, Najib further announced that SPAD was studying long-term solutions to the issues facing the stage bus operators.

Khir Toyo gets 1 year jail for graft
SHAH ALAM: Former Selangor Mentri Besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo was found guilty by the High Court here Friday of knowingly purchasing two pieces of land and a bungalow in Section 7 at a much lower price than its original value from Ditamas Sdn Bhd director Shamsuddin Hayroni in 2007.

Most were not surprised that BN retook HS from PKR given the purported millions of Ringgit dangled before voters.
The final analysis seem to show most of the Chinese still voted for PKR. It was only the Malay and Indian votes that turned the tide to BN's favor. How quick the Indian community have had a change of heart. In 2008, with temple demolitions, body-snatchings and Hindraf dominating the headlines, their frustration and anger was boiling.

When I was a young rebel in the Seventies, I received the news that my brother-in-law and eldest sister were emigrating to Australia with pious indignation. I felt that despite the injustices, Malaysians should stay and fight for our rights while helping to build the country.
Has any UMNO leader expressed regret or remorse over this brain drain? No! These “drained brains” have been greeted with “good riddance!” at UMNO general assemblies through the years since all the Umnoputras are more concerned about the dubious figures proclaiming a higher proportion of bumiputera representation in the professions.

In recent years, there has been plenty of breast beating among the Umnoputras, with flag waving, keris kissing and singing of patriotic songs. But how many of these Umnoputras can proudly stand up and say that they patriotically took part in the liberation war against the British colonialists and the Japanese fascists?
Hardly any!
Yet, how many Malayan patriots have given their lives in these two campaigns? Have they ever been honoured by the country they defended?
They were honoured by the Allies for their valour during the anti-Japanese resistance after the Second World War in London. Have our historians exposed those who collaborated with the Japanese fascists during the Second World War - the “quislings who sold out the patriot game”?
At least one man, Chin Peng can claim that he achieved this and today he merely wants the opportunity to visit his homeland that he defended against British colonialism and Japanese fascism but he is unable to do this!

Is Dr M Anti-Christian?

The trouble with Islamo-tribalism
As a Turkish Muslim, I strongly disagree with my Malaysian coreligionists who disagree with the Christians. The word “Allah” simply means “The God” in Arabic, and Arab Christians have been using it for centuries without any trouble. In Turkey, too, Bibles published by Turkish Christians used to have the term “Allah” until the recent “modernization” in their discourse. The change is their choice, and none of our business.
The Malaysian government argues that making Allah synonymous with God may “confuse Muslims and ultimately mislead them into converting to Christianity.” Wow, what a great sign of self-confidence. Why don’t they rather think, one wonders, that the same thing might ultimately “mislead” Christians into converting to Islam.
Besides the obvious immaturity, what is really disturbing to me here is how Allah, the “Lord of mankind” according to the Koran, is reduced to something like a tribal deity.

The only option for MCA
OCT 11 – The delegates have spoken. No matter how both sides are going to spin the results, there is no denying the following:
1) The central delegates want both Ong and Chua out of leadership positions in MCA.
2) They have lost confidence in both leaders.
3) They want fresh presidential elections to elect new leaders.
If MCA does not hold fresh party elections and Ong hangs on as president, or one of the vice-presidents takes over as president, there is little doubt that MCA’s slogan of reform will be seen as empty rhetoric to the public.
Indeed one could argue that Ong’s refusal to resign on the spot suggests that MCA is no better than any third world political parties. There is nothing ambiguous about the vote, the delegates do not want Ong.
You can use all sorts of legal arguments on why you do not have to resign but the public will not be fooled by legalspeak.
The same goes for Chua, the delegates do not want him as their deputy president or president.
