Anti-GST Protest - March to Dataran Merdeka

Parliament passed GST Bill in January 2014 with 119 MPs who voted in support and another 81 who voted against. It was not a total surprise given that ruling MPs virtually have no choice but to 'go with the flow'.

Being a public holiday and knowing how the average Malaysian mind works I knew attendance would be way below the Bersih 3.0 levels. Well I was there and as for the reports that followed I'd say attendance was in the 30,000 region. Not large enough to make BN sit up but nevertheless still a decent number. As you can see from the video Jalan Raja was packed and many more (me included) could not make our way onto the road and stayed back along Masjid Jamek area.

Police were quick to arrest non-violent protestors. However these violent hooligans attacked media personnel were not arrested. We saw cops posted at every 10 metres and how they were not at the most vital area of Dataran is a mystery. How convenient.
